some problems on the roadways, a couple of accidents in virginia to talk about that's why we have the yellow light here. to the live shot and 95 southbound route 1 in woodbridge. three tractor-trailers involved in the accident only the left lane is getting by. but now it looks like they're opened two left lanes traffic still slow back up to lornton. we're expected to have this open in about a half hour close to the 7:00 probably. northbound delays show from newington up to the franconia springfield parkway. all right, the outer loop in virginia, we have an accident between route 7 and 66. saying only the left lane getting by there. keep your eye out for that. in maryland, outer loop volume up between new hampshire and colesville road. no real problems yet. we're going to keep our eyes on that as that develops and then 270 southbound, little slow 80 to 109. but jermantown to rockville, no problems yet. on the travel times -- i'm going to keep you updated on the outer loop accident at 6:12. jessica? >>> the stories happening today. this morning, learn about the future of the virgini

, there are thousands of people in arlington, thousands of folks who use dominion virginia power who do not have power this morning. same with pepco. here's a downed tree limb right here. i've got to tell you that this is like the best of it because coming up this road we saw some extreme damage throughout this area. tom kierein is saying what they experienced here in the rivercrest neighborhood, basically straight line winds. 16 miles per hour. that's as fast as those winds came through here yesterday. no sign of any kind of tornadoes in this area, no sign of any kind of circulation causing this damage, but just high winds. he's saying it doesn't appear to be an issue with circulation because of this right here. the fact we still have leaves here on tree limbs. if this was a tornado, then we wouldn't be seeing these leaves. they would have been ripped off of the limbs. that was his main question for me is what do you see on the tree limbs? are they still leaves? they're still leaves and what we're dealing with here again is high winds that caused this damage throughout this neighborhood. i've got to

's in the low 70s in the nearby suburbs and much of virginia, maryland, now in the low 70s. west virginia, many locations in the 60s. over the last 12 hours, you can see those showers and some heavy downpours have passed just north of washington. there's an area of some heavy rain out in the ohio valley, southern indiana coming into kentucky. that is coming our way. looks like we'll be arriving here perhaps midday and then during the afternoon. right now you should have no travel problems weatherwise on this friday morning. there's the jefferson memorial under this mostly cloudy sky in washington. our temperatures will climb to around 80. maybe a little sunshine in and out this morning, then cloudy the rest of the day. looks like by noontime could have showers coming through, maybe thunder and lightning. a greater chance of heavier downpours with more thunder and lightning mid to late afternoon and into the evening hours. before then, temperatures reaching the mid-80s for a time by midafternoon. looks like this potential for flooding rains and heavy downpours continues into tonight. we'll look

their guns, they march 200 miles and win the first significant battle in virginia during the war. i found a gentleman named william mcclanahan. he's an interesting guy. he is a baptist minister, now, this is colonial virginia. we still have an established church of england. he's a baptist minister, he is captain of one of the battalions of the culpepper minutemen, and he was put in jail in 1773 for preaching the gospel. okay? now, we have a curious problem here. so my research got turned to why is mcclanahan willing to pick up his gun and march to nor poke? i discovered three things in that process. the first was that, in fact, the persecution of dissenters in colonial virginia was a lot worse than historians had led us to believe. we all know, perhaps from college or high school, that we still had taxes to pay anglican ministers. so if you're a baptist or presbyterian, you're paying for the local anglican minister. but that wasn't the half of it. start anything the 1760s, we started as the baptist and presbyterians were growing, they eventually are almost a third of the population by the
